As MOPO approaches 1000 colleagues…

MOPO Nigeria team

MOPO’s Nigeria team in Abeokuta, MOPO Nigeria’s HQ

This week’s story comes from Luke Burras, reflecting on his recent trip to Nigeria.

“Some people measure a company by metrics like headcount, profit, or sales. These are important, no doubt, but they’re often just the results of something deeper, something you can’t easily count or touch. A company’s culture is like this—hard to measure but easy to feel. When the culture is right, nearly anything is possible. When it falters, nothing feels quite right, and even success is difficult to sustain.

I’ve recently spent time with our team in Nigeria, visiting our new office in Abeokuta. Though it was just a short visit, I came away deeply impressed by the spirit and energy there. Many of our team members in the UK, Salone, Liberia, China, or DRC haven’t yet had the chance to meet our Nigerian colleagues in person, but even from afar, you can sense how the team embodies MOPO’s mission. Their commitment to working together, serving one another, leveraging technology, and pushing forward with hard work is inspiring and truly a testament to our shared culture.

As we grow closer to a thousand colleagues, I’d wondered if our company culture might stretch thin. My time in Nigeria made it clear that MOPO’s culture is alive and thriving across borders, carried forward by each team and every one of us. We are ONE MOPO, wherever we are.”
