MOPO China update

This week’s story comes from Phil Howden, reflecting on his recent trip to China.
“Last week, I visited China to connect with our Procurement & Supply Chain Manager Erick Li as well as spend some time with our MPCN team at our Shenzhen warehouse. The visit provided valuable insights into the complex processes that keep MOPO running smoothly, from managing incoming equipment to logistics and shipping.
Engaging with our MPCN team: (Sarah, Penny, Anita and David) was very informative - learning about the processes of how equipment arrives, is stored, picked, packed and sent on to our teams in Africa. I was struck by how much goes on every day across MOPO to make the business tick, and because of the excellent international team and communication systems that we have, how well the teams manage these elements and make it all run so smoothly!
We toured two of our key manufacturing partners to observe the production of our MOPOMax charging units and system control units and discussed plans to scale operations while controlling costs. Seeing our products take shape was a powerful reminder of the hard work and expertise that drive our mission forward, and it solidified the MOPO decision to partner with the right manufacturers to scale.
I left with a sense of what a brilliant business MOPO is – and how much work Erick and his team do making sure that the links between the ideas team in the UK and the delivery team in Africa are well supported, and how on-top of the manufacturing his team are!
A special thanks to everyone who made the trip memorable—even for the adventurous local cuisine!”
