MOPO Wedding Congratulations Opeyemi and Mary

This week’s Friday Story comes from Yemi, our Nigeria and DRC Country Director. Enjoy it, it’s a great one!

“On the 23rd of September, two MOPO agents from Nigeria were joined together in matrimony. The two agents who work at different hubs have been working for MOPO for over a year. Agent Opeyemi, the groom, works at Ikoro hub and agent Mary, the bride, works at Iyin hub, both in Ekiti region. The hubs are 35km from each other.

Agent Opeyemi was happy to let us know how they met. He said on the day they met, he took a quick trip out of Ikoro hub and he had a stop at Iyin, he was quick to spot Mary by her MOPO T-shirt and banner. He introduced himself, they started to talk about working for MOPO, the challenges and benefits of Mobile Power, they exchanged a few ideas on how to be better on the job. Opeyemi who has worked longer for MOPO encouraged Mary and told her that MOPO is the reason why he is able to survive. They exchanged contact and the rest is history.

The couple at their wedding were happy to make it known that MOPO did not only give them a source of income but made them meet. They revealed that the earnings from MOPO was used to finance their wedding. They believe that their combined earnings will go a long way in sustaining their family. They are grateful to be working for MOPO and they believe that MOPO is a major empowerment platform for many. They pray for the continued service of Mobile Power.

The wedding was attended by agents from both Iyin and Ikoro, and the area managers from the region. The couple are now happily married and have also resumed work. This is a testament to the fact that MOPO not only provides a source of income to people, MOPO also connects people.

Happy married life to the couple!”
